At the heart of the debate is a strong conviction: the value of the data lies not in its retention, but in its sharing. Why is data sharing the real game-changer of the rail? To boost operational excellence: Crossing infrastructure data (SNCF Network) with those of manufacturers and operators makes it possible to move from preventive maintenance to truly predictive maintenance. Less outages, more availability. Accelerating collective innovation: By opening up access to some key data, major order-holders allow agile players, such as startups and FIF SMEs, to design breakout AI solutions much faster. Guaranteeing sovereignty and interoperability: At European level (carried out by UIC), standardising and sharing data is the sine qua non for creating a connected, fluid rail network capable of effectively competing with other modes of transport.
