Roadtrain Girly 2026 for Gender Diversity in the Railway Industry

Ahead of International Women's Rights Day, Roadtrain Girly 2026 returns for its 2nd national edition on Friday 6 March 2026, in order to strengthen gender diversity and the attractiveness of railway industry trades. An immersive day to discover the sector Roadtrain Girly is aimed at women who are job-seeking, in career transition, or considering their professional future. It is a unique opportunity to discover an industry that is strategic, innovative and meaningful, in a context of strong recruitment needs. Initiated by the Association des Industries Ferroviaires en Hauts-de-France and organised in partnership with France Travail, this day is led by the CMQ Ferroviaire Industrie Automobile Éco-Mobilité, under the aegis of the French Railway Industry Association, with the participation of Mecateamcluster, FERROCAMPUS, FIF Grand Est and the CMQe Mobilité et Transport Intelligent Occitanie. A day to experience, understand, and envision one's future For this new edition, numerous companies from the sector have joined the momentum of Roadtrain Girly 2026, reflecting a strong commitment from the entire sector in favour of gender diversity. The event offers a concrete, immersive experience: Visits to industrial sites and workshops: Discovery of working environments and railway technologies at major sites: Alstom (Petite-Forêt and Aytré), Novium and Erion France (Montceau-les-Mines), NGE/TSO (Chelles), COLAS RAIL/RAMFER (Grenay), Institut de Soudure (Avoine), WABTEC and Eiffage Rail (Saint-Pierre-des-Corps), Technicentre industriel Charentes Périgord - SNCF Voyageurs (Saintes), Vossloh Switch Systems and CAF France (Reichshoffen), Hitachi Rail (Vélizy-Villacoublay) and the Technicentre SNCF Voyageurs (Toulouse) Hands-on workshops and demonstrations: Career-themed escape games, welding demonstrations, virtual reality immersion and presentations of technological innovations. Meetings with women professionals: Inspiring testimonials from women in the railway industry, discussions on career paths, skills and everyday realities. Employment and training sessions: Concrete information on career opportunities and the support schemes offered by France Travail, as well as the training courses offered by the Centre de Formation des Apprentis de l'Industrie. A strategic issue for the sector Today, less than 22% of the European railway industry workforce are women*, with marked under-representation in technical, production, maintenance and engineering trades. Through this national initiative, the railway industry reaffirms its commitment to building a sector that is more inclusive, more gender-diverse and more attractive, where skills take precedence over stereotypes.
