Press release FIF welcomes the launch of CORIFER's AMI aimed at promoting innovation in the rail sector Paris, 15 June 2023 The French Railway Industry Association (FIF) welcomes the announcement made by Minister Clément Beaune at the Vivatech trade fair, concerning the launch of the Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) of the Steering Committee for Rail Sector Research and Innovation (CORIFER). This initiative reflects a strong commitment to innovation and the modernisation of the rail sector. The Chair of CORIFER, Carole Desnost, will contribute her expertise and vision to guide the committee's work in the search for innovative solutions. CORIFER's AMI will focus on five key priorities that reflect the major issues facing the rail sector: Priority 1: development of very low-emission trains and other innovations aimed at decarbonisation, and the reduction of nuisances and pollution caused by infrastructure and rolling stock. Priority 2: acceleration of rail freight. Priority 3: rail in the service of everyday mobility. Priority 4: strengthening the efficiency, energy efficiency and sobriety of systems, as well as their resilience. Priority 5: new design and manufacturing methods. These priorities reflect CORIFER's determination to foster the development of innovative technological and operational solutions, which will contribute to the energy transition, to improved service quality and to the competitiveness of the rail sector. FIF, which provides the secretariat for CORIFER, is delighted to see the support given to innovation in the rail sector by the French government. This initiative will strengthen the collaboration between rail industry players, research institutes and public authorities, thereby creating an ecosystem favourable to the emergence of sustainable and high-performing solutions. As the representative body for the rail industries, FIF is firmly committed to promoting innovation and stands ready to actively contribute to the success of CORIFER's AMI.
