[INNOTRANS] Back to the second day of #InnoTrans2024! To start this second day, our President and our General Delegate met with the General Delegate of the Verband der Bahnindustrie in Deutschland (VDB) e.V. (German Railway Industry Association), Axel Schuppe. The dialogue between the FIF and the VDB, two leading figures in the railway industry, highlighted the importance of our Franco-German partnership. The two countries, European rail leaders, share the same ambition: to speed up innovation while responding to the environmental challenges of the sector One of the highlights of the day was the Round Table on Decarbonation, organized by Colas Rail. Patrick Jeantet shared the Federation's vision with Jean de la Chapelle, Assistant DG Colas Rail, Bertrand Gryspeert, CEO of Vossloh Switch Systems, and Nicolas GROULT, CEO of Pandrol. The debate has been up to the challenge: the role of the railway industry as a pillar of the #Ecological Transition Major challenges have been highlighted, whether in terms of reducing CO2 emissions, developing green infrastructure, or adopting practices in favour of the circular economy. The message is clear: the railway industry needs to take shape to build the future of sustainable mobility. At the beginning of the afternoon, our director of the industry division, Jean-Jacques MOGORO, co-hosted a captivating conference on open innovation in the rail sector, alongside Raphael BLANCHARD, Chairman of the Rail Open Lab, Benoît Besson in charge of the Innovation and Open Innovation approach at the DGNUM of SNCF Réseau, and Thomas Bardaine Product Champion for Geophysical Monitoring at Sercel. Together, they explored how cooperation between companies, start-ups and industry tools can accelerate the implementation of break-up solutions in our industry. The day ended in beauty with the presentation of the French Rail Awards, in the presence of His Eminence Ambassador François Delattre, a ceremony organized by Business France and whose FIF is happy to be a sponsor. Our General Delegate, Igor Bilimoff, was honoured to present the innovation award to Gindre Ducavany, a worldwide copper driver specialist, for his innovative software. This award is a fine tribute to the excellence of the French railway industry, which continues to shine on the international scene. Throughout the day, we were able to interact with FIF member companies such as Voith Group, Wabtec Corporation, Crouzet, SCLE and Colas Rail. Each discussion was an opportunity to strengthen our ties with our members.
